Rise Asset Development Celebrates the Graduating Classes of its 2017 Peer Supported Startup Program in Mississauga

Rise Asset Development is pleased to announce that 33 individuals from Peel Region have completed the Peer Supported Startup Program in 2017 and are ready to launch their small businesses. Winter and Spring sessions took place at Sheridan College’s Hazel McCallion Campus, which partnered with Rise to conduct the month-long business training programs. The program offers a combination of classroom instruction, group work and business advisory and mentoring.

“Our Peer Supported Startup Program helps individuals with a history of mental health or addiction challenges to pursue their dreams of entrepreneurship and to participate in the workforce on their own terms,” said Beth Dea, acting CEO of Rise. “Employment has been identified as a leading component in promoting positive mental health and supporting a fulfilling life in the community and we are pleased to support those who choose self-employment.

Here’s what some of our graduates have said about their experiences:

“My experience in the workshop guided me to enhance my potential as an entrepreneur. I learned the key points to start up a small business. All in all, it was empowering and engaging experience. “ Aileen Costes

“I thank each and every RISE personnel from the bottom of my heart for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this amazing program. I wouldn’t say it gave us wings, rather it gave us a prototype to build our own wings.” Fredrick Lourduswamy.

“I found it quite interesting and very helpful in what my next steps should be. The group offered ideas that opened up some different avenues that I intend to follow through with.” Patrick Edwards

“I would like to say thank you for everything! I am truly great-full for the opportunity to change my life through this program.” Anonymous.
