Dawn Kloster’s decision to pursue entrepreneurship is firmly rooted in her intention to build community and create a better world. Facing burnout and a challenging work environment, Dawn set out to correct this pattern by becoming her own boss, knowing that any employee of hers would be treated with respect.
Similarly, Dawn’s choice of business was based on a need she saw in her community. She remembered participating in sound baths, Reiki, and drumming circles in another city years ago, and how much peace they had brought her. Inspired by this memory, she set out to create a similar offering in her new home of Sooke, BC: Infinity Wellness Pop-ups.
Dawn credits Rise’s Peer Supported Startup Program with helping her to decide on and refine her business concept.
“When I began the program, I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur,” she says, “but I wasn’t sure what form that would take. The idea of hosting wellness events was born from the space Rise created for me to dream big and think creatively.”
Infinity Wellness Pop-ups operate twice-monthly events, featuring yin yoga and sound baths. “It really relaxes people and gets them into a really comfortable state,” says Dawn.
The company just celebrated its one-year anniversary, and things are going well: the pop-ups reliably sell out each month, and beyond the business, Dawn has also built a community. She says she started to notice participants lingering after sessions to chat and realized that her events were starting to foster the kind of connection she had been missing.
“I love watching that at the end of every event,” she says. “People just connect and build relationships, and I really want to encourage that.”
Dawn has plans to grow her community in 2026. She will be adding a new event to the rotation that’s geared at reaching new clients, and she and her daughter, Grace, are collaborating on a unique offering that combines art therapy and sound baths.
Above all, Dawn is focused on laying the groundwork for her big dream: to open a brick-and-mortar wellness centre. As a small business owner, she has found that trusting the process is an important part of her success.
“Just keep the momentum moving forward,” Dawn says, “because that’s what creates the foundation.
“I love what I’m doing, and I love the community that I’m building…and here I am, a year later.”
Congratulations to Dawn Kloster, recipient of the 2025 Rise Small Business Start-up Award.
